Actor accused of raping colleague

Mumbai : A Bollywood actor has been booked by the Charkop police on Saturday for allegedly raping a television actress. According to the police, a case has been registered against actor Vishal Thakkar under relevant sections involving rape and other offences The Charkop police have registered an FIR against the actor after a television actress approached the police and lodged a complaint.

“We have registered a case against Vishal Thakkar under sections of rape and various other offences,” senior inspector Ramchandra Gaikwad said.

The FIR was registered on Saturday night. Sources said the victim has worked in several TV serials. She has alleged that the accused, Thakkar, raped her in his house.

The Charkop police have registered an offence against the actor under sections 376 (Rape), 509 (Outraging modesty of a woman), 506 (criminal intimidation), 420 (cheating), and 323 of the Indian Penal Code.

After the FIR was filed, Thakkar has been on the run and the police are in search of him.

Thakkar is known for his roles in the famous movie Munnabhai MBBS and also in a popular television comedy show called Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltaah Chashma.
