9-member panel formed to chalk out rly safety plan

MUMBAI: The committee formed by Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu to probe the rising trends of cases of accidental deaths on Mumbai suburban railway system includes nine members including MPS, railway officials said. The first meeting will be held on Sunday at 3pm.

The members include MPs Kirit Somaiya, Rajan Vichare, Poonam Mahajan, Arvind Sawant, BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta, KDMC Commissioner E Ravindran, General Manager of Central Railway SK Sood, NGO member LR Nagwani and Commuters Association Ketan Goradia. The committee shall also hold public hearings and the report will be submitted within one month i.e. by December 31 this year.
