3.5 lakh Sunni Muslims pray for peace at annual Ijtema

Mumbai : The annual Sunni Ijtema concluded on Sunday at Azad Maidan where more than 1. 5 lakh Sunni Muslim men were present. The three-day gathering had started on Friday. It was organised by Sunni Dawate Islami group for Sunni Muslim men and women who wished to acquire Islamic knowledge, theology, principles and understanding of their roles and responsibilities in accordance to develop a moral society.

At the event on Sunday, a mass prayer was also held for the peace and prosperity of the whole mankind, sending a message of peace and communal harmony and vow to instill greater humanitarian values in people.

The scholars and Islamic preachers spoke on Islamic culture across the world and human development. The topics covered were Role of Muslims in promoting education, the role of Sufies-Islamic Spirituality in Global Peace, use of modern technology in the light of Quran, Dignity of Human life and its Values and many.

Around 3.5 lakh Sunni Muslims across the state participated with their families in the three-day event. The Sunni Ijtema is being carried out since the last 25 years in the month of December.
