2 Notorious Burglars Arrested By Virar Police Crime Branch In ₹9.2 Lakh Vasai Theft Case

Palghar: In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Branch Unit 3 of Virar Police has successfully apprehended two seasoned criminals involved in a recent house burglary case in Vasai. The arrest follows a complaint filed by Ali Akbar Hakimmuddin Thandlawala (34), a resident of Silent Park, Vasai West, who reported a theft of gold jewelry and cash worth ₹9, 22,500 from his locked house between 6:40 pm and 9:00 pm on March 26, 2025.

About The Case

According to the complaint registered at Vasai Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, the unknown burglars broke the latch lock of the main door and gained entry. They then proceeded to break open the safe inside the bedroom cupboard and stole the valuables without the complainant's consent.

Taking the seriousness of the crime into account, senior police officials directed the Crime Branch to expedite the investigation and apprehend the culprits. Following the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes) and the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crimes), the Crime Branch Unit 3 team visited the crime scene and conducted a parallel investigation.

By analyzing CCTV footage and leveraging technical analysis along with confidential information, the police identified two suspects, Imran Usman Shaikh (34), who works as a garment vendor and resides in Andheri West, Mumbai, and Musheer Salim Khan (40), a painter residing in Nalasopara East. Both individuals were taken into custody on April 3, 2025, and subsequently handed over to the Vasai Police Station for further action. The accused were brought to Vasai Police Station for further investigation.

Both individuals have a criminal history and have been previously booked in multiple theft and housebreaking cases under various police stations, including Powai, D. N. Nagar, Byculla, Santacruz, and Shivaji Nagar in Mumbai. The charges ranged from theft to housebreaking. Further investigations are ongoing.
