Ujjain: On the 5th day of workshop cum demonstration series under the joint auspices of SPIC MACAY and IOCL, artist T Reddi Lakshmi on Friday performed Kuchipudi in Government Middle School Datana and Government Middle School Chandesara.
Laxmi presented a sequence on Ardhanarishvara which is depicted as half-male and half-female. The right half is usually the male Shiva, illustrating his traditional attributes. SPIC MACAY convener Pankaj Agrawal said that highlight of today’s workshop was the children coming on to the stage and showing the uses of mudras and expressions without using sounds or words. They learnt the Shirobheda as mentioned in the Natya Shastra and their names, uses etc. Children also expressed their gratitude at the end of the demonstration.
She was welcomed by students Tareen Patel and Payal Makwana, respectively, and vote of thanks was proposed by Dattatreya Nimche and Apporva Sharma. On Saturday, Lakshmi will perform at Police Training School Maksi Road, Government Girls Middle School Desai Nagar, Government Higher Secondary School Nagziri Police line Maharajwada number-1.
