Mumbai: The Marathas and Kolis (fisherfolk) on Thursday extended their support to Sanjay Dina Patil, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate for the Mumbai North East constituency. In a public meeting at Jagannath Hall in Vikroli, the Agri Koli Mahasang and Maratha Kranti Morcha extended their support to him.

In the meeting, both community leaders expressed their anger against the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party-Shiv Sena government over various proposed projects which have risked their livelihoods. The fishermen community are being evicted forcibly and they fear losing their livelihood.
Patil belongs to the fisherfolk community and they said that he would be able to understand their problems and believe that he will help resolve them. Patil welcomed them for bestowing trust on him and assured he will address their issues if he wins.
