Mumbai: With 2,601 polling booths in the South Mumbai constituency, the Election Commission (EC) is leaving no stone unturned to ensure security of polling booths on 29 April 2019. Special teams are deployed with officers working day and night scrutinising and verifying the history of each and every polling centre.

Thorough research is being done including in-depth study of any violent activity that might have taken place in the past.  There will be live webcast of at least 10 percent of the polling booths so that senior election officials will be able to monitor the proceedings remotely.

Also there will be adequate deployment of security forces so that if any notorious situation may rise, it will be taken care of immediately.  There is also a separate media team, which is monitoring the four type of media – Electronic, Print, Social Networks and Radio for twenty four hours.

They keep proper surveillance so that there is not any breach of the code of conducts done by the campaigners. With an advent increase in rate of social media users nationwide, the team is also sincerely working on countering fake news as well so that there is no rumour that may lead to unrest among civilians regarding the polling process as a whole.
