Mumbai: After reported assurance of support in assembly polls received from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Abdul Sattar, Congress rebel, who had recently resigned from the post of Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), has on Monday withdrawn his nomination from the Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency.
Sattar, a legislator from Sillod in Aurangabad district had tendered his resignation for not getting the party ticket for Lok Sabha polls for Aurangabad seat. Later, he had submitted the nomination as an independent candidate and met CM Fadnavis for his support.
However, the sources from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) disclosed that CM had assured him support in assembly polls from the BJP and asked him to withdraw his nomination.“Sattar’s independent candidature would bring Shiv Sena candidate Chandrakant Khaire in trouble due to division in votes. That is why he was asked to withdraw from poll fray,” said the source.
