Almost eight months after tying the knot in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Mumbai, the couple celebrated their love with a dreamy Christian wedding that left everyone in awe.
Aaliyah dons mother-in-law's wedding gown from three decades ago
On July 7, Aaliyah took to her Instagram handle to share a series of breathtaking pictures from her New York nuptials, but it wasn't just the picturesque setting or the couple's chemistry that made headlines. She also touched hearts by revealing that she wore her mother-in-law’s wedding gown from three decades ago.
"For our American wedding, I wore my beautiful mother-in-law’s wedding dress from 30 years ago and it was so so special! Timeless and classic,” she wrote in the caption. She also included a throwback photo of her mother-in-law in the same gown on her wedding day, adding a sentimental touch to the festivity.

Aaliyah's modern take on the vintage white wedding gown
Originally, the dress featured a high boat neckline, full-length lace sleeves, a satin bust overlay, and a delicate rose appliqué at the centre. To give the vintage gown a modern spin, Aaliyah made a few elegant tweaks. She removed the sleeves and transformed the neckline into a plunging sweetheart shape, giving it a strapless silhouette that balanced classic and contemporary.
For accessories, Aaliyah opted for a double-strand diamond necklace, dainty earrings, and her wedding ring. Her makeup was soft and romantic with smokey pink eyeshadow, rosy cheeks, a glowing highlighter, and glossy pink lips. Lastly, she styled her look with soft, wavy hair tied in a half-up, half-down do and wore a classic veil.
Meanwhile, Shane complemented his bride in a sleek black tuxedo and bow tie.
