Mumbai : Last year’s finalists Swami Vivekanand thrashed Vasant Vihar (Thane) by 9 wickets to the win the final of the Poinsur Gymkhana inter-school cricket tournament, played at their ground at Kandivali here today. The highlight of their was the fine all-round performance of their skipper, Suved Parkar, who apart from capturing four wickets, hit up an unbeaten 65 to steer his school to nine-wicket win.
It was after a gap of three years that the Birivali won the final.
Batting first, the Thane school could hardly make their presence felt, against the medium pace attack of Suved Parkar (4/11) and Akash Mishra (2/29) and were dismissed for 141 in 39th over of the 40-over final.
The Swami Vivekanand openers made a brisk start. After losing an early wicket, Rahul Kesai and skipper Suved Parkar, batted with aplomb to steer their side to comfortable win. Suved hit nine fours and a six in his 65, while Rahul had three fours and a six in his 55.
