SSC Result 2016: Konkan tops, Latur bottom

Mumbai : The pass percentage in Class X SSC exam has come down by 1.90%, as against that last year. Of the 1601406 students who appeared in the state in nine regions, 1434143 students have passed.

The highest pass percentage was in Konkan region at 96.56% and the lowest in Latur at 81.54%. The Mumbai region has come fourth among the regions with 91.90% pass percentage. Sindhudurg zilla has the highest pass percentage at 97.47%. Nanded, a part of Latur, trails at the bottom 74.48%. There have been reports of schools being affected by drought and drop outs increasing in the Latur region.

Girls have done better than boys in the state by securing a 3.43% higher pass percentage. While for boys it was 87.98%, girls clocked 91.41%. In the Mumbai region, the pass percentage for boys is 90.8%, whereas that for girls is 93.7%.

For repeater candidates, the pass percentage is 43.57%. The pass percentage among the physically challenged is 88.73%. Among those who passed, 403,794 students passed with a distinction. 561,786 passed with a first class, 394,045 with second class and 74,518 students only passed.

Among the 21,433 schools in the state, 3,974 schools got 100% results but there were also 61 schools where no students passed. “These were schools in slum areas which did not have any infrastructure; sometimes they had very few students,” said Dattatreya Jagtap, Chairman, Mumbai division Secondary and Higher Secondary Board.  In Mumbai region, 16 schools had 0% pass percentage and 865 schools had 100% pass percentage. In 0% pass percentage, Mumbai region is on par with Latur which also has the same number of schools with that distinction.
