Mumbai : Resident doctors across Maharashtra on Saturday formally called off their agitation after 5 days following security assurances given by CM Devendra Fadnavis.
“Most of the doctors have resumed duties. The OPDs have also become operational and resident doctors paid a visit to the general wards as well,” said Dr Avinash Supe, Dean of the civic body-run KEM hospital in Mumbai.
Resident doctors in Sion and Nair hospitals too have resumed work, he added.
The state government has applied the carrot and stick medicine to break the strike. Even while the CM said his government was putting in place an elaborate security apparatus in all state hospitals, Fadnavis indicated he was running out of patience and would take legal action against the striking docs.
