Mumbai : Nayan Chatterjee continued his great run of form, with a podium finish at the JK Tyre FMSCI National Rotax Karting Championship! Nayan, who began in third place, quickly secured second place by the end of the second lap, and held onto it for the majority of the race!

It was a great day for the Chatterjee brothers, as Nayan’s brother Mrinal also secured a podium finish, ending the race in third place – with the two brothers finishing considerably ahead of the fourth and fifth placed competitors.

Nayan finished the championship in third place, capping off an excellent year which included second position overall at the KRS KKS Asia Max Challenge, thus establishing himself as one of the best kart racers in Asia.

Nayan was in good spirits post the race ‘It was good to finish the season on the podium. Qualifying was good and so was the final race. That’s never enough though. What made the weekend better was to see my brother Mrinal on the podium too! To finish 3rd in the championship with two DNFs is quite an achievement. It’s a question of what could have been if our luck was normal let alone good! I’d like to thank my team, Rodney Magness and Nick Jansz of 7 Racing, and Asif Shaikh for grinding through the season. A special thanks to Mr Akbar Ebrahim for showing me the way! Without them and my family, it would have been difficult.

Mrinal too was delighted ‘I came into the weekend hoping to finish in the top-5, considering I missed the last round. But I kept working through it. It was an exciting weekend. I had a bad start and an incident but I kept on pushing, kept it consistent and finished 3rd. Very happy. The team, my family and Mr Akbar Ebrahim have kept my focus.’

After being backed by both Cello and Venus, Nayan is also going to take part in at least one round of the newly-launched F4 South East Asia Championship.
