Modi arrives in Ireland, first Indian PM to visit in 59 years

Dublin: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday arrived in Ireland — in the first visit by an Indian prime minister in 59 years. Modi was received by Health Minister Leo Varadkar at the Dublin airport.

“A traditional Gaelic warmth. Health Minister Leo Varadkar and other dignitaries receive PM @narendramodi at airport,” tweeted external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup.

Modi will hold discussions with Prime Minister Enda Kenny. The Indian prime minister will depart for New York on Wednesday evening as part of the US leg of his tour. The prime minister will be in the US till September 29.
