Berlin: In the wake of Britain’s exit from the European Union, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will host talks with European Union’s President Donald Tusk, French President Francois Hollande and Italian Prime Minister Matteo in Berlin on Monday. Merkel said, “We must analyse the Brexit situation calmly and not rush into any decisions” adding “our goal must be to have close future relations between Britain and the EU.”

She admitted that Britain’s decision to leave EU is a blow to Europe and to the European unification process but urged the members states to calmly and prudently analyse and evaluate the situation before making decisions. Britain voted for an exit from the EU which led to Prime Minister David Cameron announcing his resignation.
