Mumbai : Football is the biggest and best sport in the world which requires complete body fitness. It is associated with passion, emotion, excitement and dedication amongst all, right from the players, parents to the fans. Keeping the vision alive to encourage football in suburbs, Sundays Boys Football Club, on their10th Anniversary launched the “Confidence Cup” tournament for Kids in three Age categories,namely U-12,U- 14 and U-16, near St. Zaviers School at Airoli.
Eight Clubs participated in each category. Teams across Mumbai participated in the event which started on 7th August and concluded on 28th August.
Teams reaching the Finals were:
U-12:St.Gregorios (Chembur) vs SBFC(Bhandup). St.Gregorios won by 4-2, U-14:Parla FC (Vile parle) vs Kooh Sports (Powai).Parla FCwon 3-1, U-16:Lokmanya FC(Mulund) vs SBFC(Bhandup).Lokmanya won 1-0.
There were several awards given to the teams as well as players : Fair play Award:Bhaicung Bhutia Football School U14, Best player :Gautam from Kooh Sports U14, Best Player: Siddhant from BBFS U 12, Top Scorer: Akash from Parla FC U14, Top Scorer Harshit from St.Gregorios U12, Best goalkeeper: Soham from SBFC U16, Manas from Lokmanya U14, Ranvir from st Gregorios U12.
All the parents, coaches, members of group and spectators witnessed high quality football in this tournament. The Confidence Cup has not only boosted the confidence of the 192 kids who played the tournament, but also of the parents and organizers as well. The Most innovative idea was supported by Pred cred app, wherein the teams with maximum download of Aps , got a smart phone and a football. The coach of SBFC got one and the other was won by coach of ST.Gregorious. The SBFC management has expressed their gratefulness for the support given by media houses like Free Press Journal and others.
