Regional transport department officials said of the total vehicles purchased, more than 50 per cent of them were two-wheelers. “Out of all vehicles, more than 50 per cent are two wheelers while the other 50 per cent include three wheelers, four wheelers, commercial vehicles, schools buses, taxies and others,” an RTO official said.
Parking woes to increase
As number of vehicles increased in the city, the parking woes, which city is already facing, will increase too. Local administration, civic body and police are working on smoothening city traffic of which haphazard parking is a major hurdle.
“We are registering vehicles and trying to get every vehicle registered as soon as possible. The number may increase in 2019 as well.”
