Indore : The Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) acting Vice Chancellor Prof Ashutosh Mishra would be presenting the university’s annual performance report before Chancellor Ram Naresh Yadav on Friday.

The highlight of the report would to be campus placements of nearly 1100 BE/BTech and MTech students of university teaching departments.

Last year, the DAVV saw companies taking away 500 students, a number which rose to 1100 this year.

“The placements improved due to greater industry-academia ties,” Mishra said adding that they would soon setup student support centre on the UTD campus that would further enhance placements.

Mishra’s more emphasis is on job-oriented course so he is encouraging teaching departments to revise curriculum keeping requirements of the industry.

The annual report also highlights major projects clinched by the university from different organisation in last one year.

Seven departments of DAVV got special assistance programmes from University Grants Commission in session 2014-15, thus becoming the second university in the central India after Banaras Hindu University (BHU) to have maximum number of SAPs.

The state government awarded excellence status to EMRC and School of Economics.

The university got Rs 11.30 crore grant from Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs for setting up synthetic athletic track and an indoor sports complex. Work on the project is underway. In the same year, Association of Indian University entrusted responsibility of Inter-University National Youth Festival on DAVV which was successfully held in February.

In session 2014-15, the DAVV was also granted KAUSHAL Centre and Community College status. Many dignitaries, President Pranab Mukherjee, Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarathi and UGC chairman Ved Prakash visited the university in last one year.

The DAVV would also highlight recent achievements like streamlining semester system, clinching Sindhi Chair, becoming first university in the state to launch choice-based credit system etc.
