The dilapidated road in Dodiya village |
Khachrod (Ujjain district, Madhya Pradesh): The residents of Dodiya village have registered protest as the road built in 2019 has developed cracks. The villagers alleged that sub-standard material was used against which administration did not launch proper investigation despite their complaints in the matter. They also said that investigation is being delayed.
In Dodiya village panchayat, the road towards the graveyard was built under supervision of sarpanch Sharif Patel and secretary Chen Singh Gurjar. The road was to be constructed through Panch Parmeshwar and MGNREGA convergence for which Rs 7.56 lakh were approved.
“Either the road should be rebuilt or funds should be fully recovered from sarpanch and secretary, a villager said. “The villagers are troubled that there are attempts to influence the investigation,” another villager added.
The road was inspected by District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Jimmy Baheti who admitted that construction is of poor quality. When contacted, Baheti said a show cause notice has been issued. “Investigation is on and action will be taken against guilty,” Baheti added.
