BHOPAL : Skyrocketing vegetable prices are making hole in the pocket of public. Prices are almost double to three times more than those previous prices. But now even vendors are surprised on the high prices of vegetables.

Vegetable vendors held the delay in monsoon responsible for it. Vegetable wholesale Association president Rakeeb said, “Prices of vegetables are very high just because of delayed monsoon. Middle men have no role as vegetables cannot be kept in stock for longer period as their shelve life is very less or limited so ultimately they will have to throw on roads for cattle”.  He said, “Farmers are getting profit as when vegetable prices are low, they have to face loss as they could not even get investment cost. But now they are getting handsome profit. Tomatoes are being brought from Maharashtra”.

He said, “It is true that prices of vegetable directly affect the public but we people are helpless as we cannot hoard the vegetable. Secondly, monsoon is delayed”.
