Indore: Indian Institute of Management, Indore, (IIM-I) director Prof Himanshu Rai is of the view that Skybus is the panacea for Indore’s traffic woes. He plans to share his ideas with the state government.

While state government has set February 2023 deadline for rolling out Metro train in city, Rai said, “Metro train is nice public transport but I believe that for a city like Indore Skybus will be better.” Metro project is a costly affair and needs lots of space for infrastructure installation, he explained and added, “Its reach will also be limited. Besides, number of stations will be less.”

The Skybus project, he said would be comparatively economical and requires less space on ground for infrastructure installation. “Skybus track could be laid across the city, including crowded and congested areas. With stops at shorter distances it will be more convenient to use,” Rai said.  The IIM Indore director stated that the institute would work with the state government and local bodies, including Indore Municipal Corporation and Indore Development Authority, on their projects.
