Indore : Following the death of a youth in Musakhedi on Thursday night, the area residents created ruckus, raised slogans and demanded death for the accused. Heavy police force was deployed to prevent any untoward incident. However, when the market opened on Friday morning, the angry residents spilled on to streets, forced closure of shops and reportedly resorted to stone pelting at the sweet shop.

It may be recalled that following the collision of a tractor with Shreenath Sweets located near Musakhedi Square, shop owners Harsh, his brother Govind and father Murali Joshi along with employees attacked Mahesh Patel and Gokul with swords, knives and other weapons, killing Mahesh on the spot.

The police registered cases of murder, attempted murder and other offences against Harsh, Govind, Murali and two others late on Thursday night and arrested them immediately while absconding accused, Sandeep Joshi, Suresh Gurjar, and Vishal Thakur were also nabbed after raids at various places in the city.

In view of tense situation, heavy police force was deployed in the area during the night. However, when shops opened on Friday morning, the angry mob forced their closure but left the scene after police managed to calm them.

After autopsy, Mahesh’s body was handed over to his family and once again the mob turned restless. Hundreds of men from the community wanted to create a chakka jam at Musakhedi Square by keeping the body on the road. Once again police tried to pacify the mob but to no avail.

Finally the mob led by Jitu Jirati arrived with the body and staged demonstration, raised slogans and demanded death penalty for the accused.

As the funeral procession went ahead to the cremation ground, IMC and the District Administration demolished encroachments despite protests by the owners including women.
