The skies between Indore and Delhi have gone busier recently! From month end, two direct flights for the busiest sector Indore-New Delhi will be added. With this, the total number of the flights on this sector will reach to 9 excluding makeshift flight operations.

Boom in the flight operations from the city began in March last year, when Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport became the 24X7 operational airport. It is the only airport in the state which has earned this prestigious title owing to constantly increasing number of passengers from the city airport.

Aviation sources informed that Indore-New Delhi sector was becoming a very lucrative and passenger attracting sectorr’ for the airline companies, as passenger flow from the city and the region is increasing continuously. Therefore, the airline companies are introducing or expanding their flight operations on this sector.

In way, the incumbent is Air Asia, which is going to roll out a daily flight for New Delhi from March 25. Presently, the airline has a weekly flight only on Sundays to New Delhi. National Carrier Air India has also planned to roll out a flight for New Delhi from March 31. This will coincide with its proposed international flight Indore-Sharjah schedule, which is not yet finalized as certain approvals are still in the waiting.

However, as per the tentative schedule of Air India from the city airport, the new flight will depart from the city at 4.50 am and arrive at New Delhi at 6.15 am. While from New Delhi it will depart at 6 pm and arrive at Indore at 7.25 pm. Aviation sources said so far Jet Airways is operating 3 flights daily on this sector. But due to certain financial issues its flight operation is not regular in these days. However, excluding Jet Airways flights, now there will be 9 flights (if AI flight also rolls out from March 31) on Indore-New Delhi sector by the month end.
