Indore : Like previous year, this year as well it appears unlikely for a new government college to come up, thanks to the Department of Higher Education’s norm that new college should be proposed at a place where there is no private college in a radius of 20 km.
There is no place within the city where a college is not setup in a radius of 20 km. It is because of this norm, last year no new government college was setup.
This year, the DHE was expected to change the norm as educationalists and student leaders of the city had demanded for the same. But the DHE left them disappointed.
The guidelines issued for new government college on Wednesday revived the norm thus putting the city, where there is a college at every two to three kilometer, at disadvantage.
“There is no change in the guidelines for setting up new government college this year too,” Indore division additional director (higher education) RS Verma said.
