Indore : Family of Pankaj Vaishnav, who committed suicide at MIG police station on Saturday, alleged that they were kept in dark about Pankaj’s death and told them that Pankaj met with an accident. Both a judicial inquiry as well as departmental inquiry by a CSP-level officer has been launched into the death of Pankaj.
Pankaj’s mother Foolbai, brothers Manoj and Praveen and sister reached the MY Hospital mortuary on Sunday morning. While grieving the death of Pankaj, the family members alleged that he was picked up by the police for questioning.
After Pankaj committed suicide in the lock-up, the police did not inform them about his death and sent them on wild goose chase saying he met with an accident under Kotwali police jurisdiction.
However, when the family went to Kotwali police they were informed of no such incident having occurred. Then they got the news of his suicide whereupon they reached MY Hospital.
The family alleged that Pankaj had injury mark on his face and therefore his death is under suspicion. Pankaj was employed with Railway Court two years ago. Besides the family, his colleagues and railway court lawyers were also present at the mortuary.
Meanwhile, SP OP Tripathi said that Vijay Nagar CSP has been handed over the departmental inquiry into the incident. Statements of the TI and other personnel at the police station are being recorded.
Tripathi said that any policeman found guilty will be punished and added that facts such as how Pankaj got shoe laces to commit suicide etc will be investigated.
