Indore : The Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya on Monday postponed LLB first semester exams scheduled for Tuesday citing delay in revaluation and review results.
However, insiders in the university said that the exams were deferred following ambiguity over recognition status of Indore Christian College.
Exam Controller Ashesh Tiwari said that the university had to postpone LLB first semester exams following delay in review and revaluation results.
“We have rescheduled the exams from January 28. Before that we will announce the review results and revaluation results of LLB first year students,” Tiwari said.
However, sources in the DAVV said that the exams were cancelled as recognition status of Christian College was not clear.
“The university had dashed off a letter to the college seeking proofs that it has recognition from the Bar Council of India (BCI) for LLB course.
A fortnight had passed but the college has not responded back,” said an official of the DAVV pleading anonymity.
He said that the college had admitted as many as 162 students in the LLB first semester. “If it failed to produce recognition letter within a week, we will not be in a position to conduct exams for Christian College students.”
The college has also not submitted affiliation fee for LLB course in the DAVV.
College principal Jacob John could not be reached for his comment over the issue.
