Indore: If you are fond of using contact lens to look cool, you are risking your eyes as it may cause vision loss. Well known eye surgeon and Padma Shri Dr PS Hardia told mediapersons that wearing contact lens has become fashion among youths who wear it on healthy eyes for changing eyes’ colour. “Wearing contact lens can damage retina or can affect eye sight. It is a bad practice,” he said on Sunday.
He also warned people against excessive use of mobile phones, laptops or anything, which releases extra light. “Earlier, patients of myopia were above 40 years of age. Now, youths are falling prey to it, thanks to mobile phones, television, laptops and other devices, which emit light.
It affects the macula, causing vision defect,” Dr Hardia said. Talking about the ways of keeping eye healthy, he laid stress on balanced diet and exercise as lack of physical activity also affects eyes. “People should not wash eyes by water frequently. Eye is an organ, which has ability to clean itself,” he added.
