Three brothers were arrested by city crime branch while they were roaming to sell a stolen two-wheeler in MG Road area on Tuesday. Police have recovered 10 stolen two-wheelers, which they stole from the different parts of the city and Ujjain. They are being questioned for their involvement in other such incidents.
On instruction of senior officials, a team of crime branch was formed to trace vehicle lifters active in the city. Information was received that two persons are roaming in MG Road area to sell a stolen two-wheeler vehicle. The crime branch team reached the spot and launched a search for the accused.
Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Amarendra Singh said crime branch along with MG Road police station arrested accused from near Pathhar Godown. The accused identified as Pravin alias Tinku, Bhupendra alias Bunty and Yashwant alias Golu, the residents of Dhobhi Ghaat area in the city. An Activa scooter was also recovered from them. They could not present papers of scooter after which they were taken to police station. During questioning, the accused told police that they were roaming to sell the scooter to someone.
Accused Yashwant told police that they had stolen vehicles from the different areas of the city. They used to steal two-wheelers using master key. ASP Singh said Yashwant used to prepare plan for bike lifting and his brother used to help him in crime. Accused allegedly told police that they used to steal vehicles to fulfill needs of drugs. Accused Yashwant was earlier arrested by the police in Barwah for his involvement in a bike lifting case there.
So far, police have recovered 10 two-wheelers, which they had stolen from MG Road, Pardeshipura, Vijay Nagar, Chhoti Gwaltoli, Raoji Bazaar area and a bike was stolen from Nagjhiri area in Ujjain as well. Four vehicles without number were also recovered from them.
