Indore: At the concluding day of three-day10th Conference on Excellence in Research and Education (CERE), Indian Institute of Management Indore director Himanshu Rai here on Sunday said that research topic should be chosen wisely keeping in mind that it can be of use to not only the researcher but also to the audience. He also stated that there are two more important points for the researcher – being excited about the topic research is been done on and making sure the researcher finds someone as a guide who is equally excited about the topic.
He also spoke on important role of a teacher saying, “A teacher should always take the right decisions and follow the principals, as it impact the followers as well.” The conference saw a presence of participants from nation and abroad and provided them an opportunity to learn, present their views and enhance their knowledge. The conference witnessed more than 180 paper presentations and three workshops. During a workshop on topic “How to do research through experiments”, IIM Indore Prof Sanjeev Tripathi discussed about the experimental methods of research and broke down the process of conducting experiments into steps.
During another workshop on ‘Pedagogy in management’, Prof Kamal Kishore Jain said: “If you can fall in love with learning, may be learning would also fall in love with you. For this, you need to follow the three essential principals and understand that each learner is different, not to overload yourself and always make the things simple as simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” The day also had a very a talk Rajeev Kapoor (IAS 1983 Batch) on the topic — ‘Institution’. His talk revolved around different types of institutions, public institutions in India and research areas. “Good institutions are laws and practises that motivate people to work hard, become economically productive and thereby enrich both selves and their countries,” he said.
