Indore is emerging as the medical hub of the country but the only Government Dental College of the state is proving as the hurdle for this tag. While all hospitals are upgrading with latest technology, the dental college doesn’t even have proper power back-up or UPS for its computers. Resultantly, all works in the college comes to a nought in case of power cut. Not only patients but doctors and staff of the college are also facing the problem due to power cut as it turns dark in the hospital.
“All machines including teeth flossing, dental chair, surgeries and even consultation to patients are hit following power cut. If the power cut remains for long then the patients have to return home without getting treatment,” the hospital staff said.
The college have installed computers at the counters sans UPS and when there is power cut, the visitors fail to get receipts.
“We will have to use our mobile torches or candles at the time of power cut. Everything goes to a halt and the work resumed only after getting the power back,” staff members said.
Meanwhile, college principal Dr Deshraj Jain is not ready accept power cut a problem. He said, “Power cut remains for a few minutes and is restored immediately.” “We have two-grid line and don’t have problem of power cut. However, we have ordered generators and will do an alternative arrangement soon,” Dr Jain said.
