Indore: The World Pilot’s Day, which is observed worldwide on April 26, was celebrated at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar airport on Friday. The pilots of first flight and its crew members were felicitated at the airport. The day was also observed at MP Flying Club. On Friday morning, the pilot of first flight Indore-Raipur Captain Nilanjan Vishwas and First Officer Rajwant Kaur was greeted and felicitated by airport director Aryama Sanyal at new terminal building. Mementos and rose buds were given to them.
Similarly, Air Traffic Control Tower (ATC) wished Happy World Pilot’s Day to pilots after they landed and parked the aircraft at the airport. ATC also greeted all pilots flying to and from the city wishing them safe journeys. The celebration began when a small ceremony was organised at MP Flying Club, which included cake cutting. On behalf of AAI, Sanyal conveyed best wishes to all trainee pilots of the club. Chief Flying Instructor Captain Mandar Mahajan cut the cake in presence of Sanyal and trainee pilots. Initially, World Pilot’s Day was celebrated by Turkish Airline Pilots’ Association to commemorate first flight made in Turkey by Fesa Evrensev on April 26. It was celebrated first in 2014. Subsequently, it was observed on April 26 across the world.
