Indore: Oswal company, which has been selected by executive council of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) for developing software for result-processing work, does not have a good reputation in Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC). In a letter to DAVV, the IMC stated that it had hired the IT company for a project but it allegedly breached tender conditions besides committing other irregularities. The IMC also stated that the matter related to the company is in court.
Days after DAVV had chosen the IT firm for developing ‘result software’, Youth Congress on Thursday raised objection with university asking why a private firm for such an important project, which is related to confidentiality of results, has been selected. Youth Congress leader Abhijeet Pandey alleged that the company selected by DAVV had a dispute with IMC, which is a government-aided agency.
“The DAVV is also a government run organisation. How can it award contract to a company, which had dispute with another government-run organisation?” asked Abhijeet Pandey. He, however, said that it was not his main concern. “My main concern is that a firm not approved by government has been selected for contract on software related to result processing,” Pandey stated. DAVV had floated tenders for result process work under which IT company was required to build a software for the university in which nearly 3 lakh students are enrolled.
Three companies including government-approved CRIPS had applied for the contract. After technical and financial bids, the DAVV chose Oswal company for the project. As per details, the company would develop software for processing results at an outlay of Rs 2 crore. The company would also maintain it for five years for Rs 4.77 crore.
‘Not blacklisted but there is dispute’
Apart from Youth Congress, others too had lodged a complaint with DAVV claiming that Oswal company was blacklisted by IMC. Following the allegations, the IMC had dashed off a letter to company seeking to clear the air. Replying to the letter, municipal commissioner Asheesh Singh said the company was not blacklisted by IMC but it had a financial dispute and other problems with it. “Both parties have reached court over the matter. The matter is subjudice,” the letter states.
