Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Friday intercepted a car and seized cattle meat weighing more than 630 kg. Besides, they also seized 125 kg of chicken from an auto-rickshaw.
During corona curfew, the sale of only essential items is permitted so the seized meat and chickens were destroyed at the trenching ground in Devgurdia area.
Municipal official Vinay Khare said that they received a tip-off that meat was being brought illegally to the city for sale. Acting on the information, an IMC team intercepted a sedan car near Badwali Chowki at around 3 am on Thursday. As the car stopped, the driver alighted and fled.
On checking the IMC team found meat kept on the back seat and boot space. The meat was seized and sent to trenching ground.
In another action, 125 kg of chicken being carried in an auto-rickshaw was seized at Bengali Square. The chicken too was sent to the trenching ground for destruction.
