Indore: Alfez alias Papi had a field day with his two associates till Monday. They stole around 16 mobile phones from several people in the city for the last four to five months when they “dialled a wrong number on Monday” following a brush with city police! His aides are absconding.
On the instruction of Superintendent of Police (east) Mohammad Yusuf Qureshi, a team from Sanyogitaganj police station was conducting a check drive near Gymkhana Club in Residency Area on Sunday night when a biker jumped the barricade and tried to flee but the cops, in a hot wheel chase, managed to nab them.
Alfez, resident of Khajrana confessed to his crime. He along with friends Rizwan and Sahil of Khajrana stole several mobile phones at different parts in the city. They used to sell these mobiles at a cheap rate. Alfez and his accomplices had also operated near MY Hospital, MGM Medical College, Robot Square and other places in the city.
Following the lead given by Alfez, the cops recovered his bike and 16 mobile phones worth Rs 3.5 lakh from his residence. Police said Alfez is prime accused and he was earlier arrested by Dewas police in connection with a loot case. Sahil and Rizwan were also booked by the police in other crimes in deferent police station areas. The accused is being questioned for other such crimes. Police believed that the accused will reveal more such incidents. The cops have launched a manhunt for his aides.
