Residents and family members of the deceased LIC Officer Yatin Pise, who was killed by an unidentified miscreant in Dwarkapur area, staged a protest on Dwarkapuri police station and Phooti Kothi Square demanding soon arrest of the accused and strict action against him. Pise was coming out of an ATM booth after withdrawing money when the accused stabbed him to death and snatched the cash.
The accused had also attacked a person named Rajesh who came intervened. The face of the accused has been grabbed in the CCTV installed near the spot but he could not be arrested till late night. Late on Thursday, police have announced a reward of Rs 10000 on information of the accused.
The irate residents and family members first reached Dwarkapuri police station and demanded arrest of the accused. However, policemen told them that they haven’t managed to get any clue/leads yet. The family members also argued with policemen over the safety of common men. They raised question on police alertness due to which the incident was happened in a full public view.
The residents later reached Phooti Kothi Square where they protested and raised slogan for the arrest of the accused. They also tried to stage a protest there demanding strict action against the accused. The police officials also reached there and they managed to pacify the residents and family members of the deceased.
The people of the area said that the accused snatched money from Pise after which he stabbed Rjesh Sajna and another person. It is said that the accused also tried to stab another person who managed to flee and saved himself from the accused. The police are searching that person also.
Superintendent of Police (west) Suraj Verma said that the face of the accused was captured in a CCTV but he could not be identified till late Thursday night. A reward of Rs 10000 has been announced on the arrest of the accused. He claimed our team is working on the case and the accused will be arrested soon. The bank transaction detail of Pise is also being fetched to know the amount he withdrew before the incident.
