Indore: Renowned ophthalmologist Dr PS Hardia, who has been awarded with Padma Shri recently, said his efforts have been finally recognised because of Narendra Modi who is an honest Prime Minister. “My nomination for Padma awards was being made for last 15 years but now my efforts have been recognised due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He is most honest person and no one can question his honesty,” Dr Hardia said while addressing mediapersons during a programme organised by Indore Press Club on Wednesday. Dr Hardia has performed over 6.5 lakh eye surgeries and was famously “Chashma Chhudane Wale Doctor” in central India, especially in 1970s and 1980s.
Advising people, Dr Hardia said people should avoid mobile phones for keeping healthy eyes. “About 200-300 people out of 1000 people are suffering from eye diseases and the number is increasing continuously due to over stress on eyes through mobile phones and other electronic gadgets, pollution and unhealthy diet,” he said.
Talking about his motivation, Dr Hardia said, “My father taught me that doctor should treat patient as his family member. I am working on same philosophy.” He also appealed to doctors to keep in mind patients’ welfare and treat them for free if they cannot pay.
