Indore: Four members of a gang from Rajasthan, involved in duping people after hacking ATM machines, were arrested by police late on Friday. They four were arrested while they were planning to commit crime in the city. They confessed to dupe people in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra after which police recovered ATM cards and weapons from their possession.

During the drive against vehicles from other district and states, Tukoganj police station incharge Tehzeeb Kazi received a tip-off that four men were sitting in a car, bearing number plate of Rajasthan, parked near a bank’s ATM on YN Road. After information, police team reached the spot and arrested Salaluddin Mohammad, Gaffar Khan, Mohammad Umar of Bharatpur, Rajasthan and Hakmuddin Khan of Alwar, Rajasthan.

Police also recovered three sharp-edged weapons, 7 ATM cards and a paper in which the PIN of ATM cards were written. During questioning, the accused told the police that they have duped people in cities of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan at ATM booths.

They used to dupe people in ATM booths on the pretext of helping them. TI Kazi said that the accused also confessed to loot money from people in ATM booths. Interestingly, they were using stolen ATM cards at ATM kiosks and after taking out cash they were hacking machines so that it would not generate a slip.

Later accused used to call on the helpline number of the card to lodge a complaint that they didn’t receive money and the receipt. The banks had also transferred money in their accounts. The accused have been booked under section 420, 120-B of IPC and section 25 of Arms act. The car bearing number plate of Rajasthan passing was also seized. The accused were also produced before the court.
