Indore: A 38-year-old farmer was shot dead by a person over an old rivalry in Hatod area on Sunday. The accused had called him at his farm and fled the scene after shooting farmer. The police could not arrest the accused till filing of this report.
City Superintendent of Police (Gandhi Nagar) Nihit Upadhyay said incident took place in Baghana village, about eight kilometers away from Betma, at 10.30 am. Deceased identified as Rajesh Khati, a resident of same village was called by someone at his farm where he was shot at by a person named Ravi.
Ravi after shooting him fled the scene and some villagers passing from there immediately rushed him to the hospital where he died during treatment.
Police came to know that Rajesh had told villagers that he was shot at by Ravi of same village.
After the incident, Ravi is missing from his residence. Many places were raided by the police in search of the suspect but he could not be arrested.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Rajesh was a farmer and he had an argument with suspect over some issue a month ago. Police believed that Rajesh was killed over old rivalry with suspect. However, the case is under investigation.
The statements of Rajesh’s family members are also being taken to know about his dispute with suspect and other people. Ravi is also being searched by the police.
