Indore: Yunus Khan, RJ, All India Radio here on Thursday said that nowadays people are only changing stations since there is nothing different in the voices heard as every radio station does not have a unique character, whereas with the increasing pace of life and problems, one wants to listen something soothing when he sits in the car. He exclaimed that radios today claim to cater to 15-25 yrs old; however, in old times each channel had different shows focused on all age groups consisting of plays, songs, film critics, etc while talking at Jal auditorium.
Khan recalled upon his various interviews where his experiences and knowledge helped him tackle tough situations. “Lata Mangeshkar told me not to ask her anything related to her songs and filmy life five minutes before going on air. I blindly accepted the offer, which eventually turned into a conversation about her love for photography, perfumes and cricket,” said Khan while talking about the normality of celebrities’ life and the lack of connection with the interviewee in radio interviews now.
Referring to the outrage by the BMC against the video by RJ Malishka mocking the BMC’s attitude to the city’s problems two years ago, Khan explained “Radio’s power and responsibility to move the system.” Khan addressed the increasing availability of radio media transcending national boundaries with the help of internet since “People still love radio because of the personalised experience it delivers.” (Contribued by Aman Khullar)
