Indore: Don’t sit and spoil the spine

Indore: About 5-10 per cent of the population has been suffering from slip disc problem and many of them ignoring it as a normal back pain. According to spine surgeon Dr Prasad Patgaonkar, “Mostly those involved in seating jobs are suffering from slip disc due to not following ergonomics at their work place.”

Addressing media over minimal access spine surgery update 2019 organised by Indore Spinal Welfare Society on Tuesday, Dr Patgaonkar said, “Obesity is also a main reason behind increasing number of patients suffering from slip disc and sciatica. People following sedentary lifestyle and falling ill of the disease but ignored it is as back pain.”

The only way to prevent the disease is to exercise regularly and to sit in proper posture. Talking about the conference, he said that more than 100 experts from across the world participate in the three-day conference, mainly from Brazil, Kenya, Indonesia, Nigeria and Libya. Experts will perform live surgeries of 8-10 patients for free during the event.
