Indore: In sudden change of events, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Sunday went to the residence of Mayor Malini Gaud after she accused his minster son Jaivardhan Singh of ignoring and discriminating against her. On the sidelines of a programme, Gaud in the afternoon attacked urban development minister Jaivardhan Singh for discriminating against her.
“He is also ignoring me. He is not even responding to my phone calls and test messages. I have snaps shots as a proof with me,” she said.
Gaud said that he hides behind the excuse of being busy. Gaud also stated that he dropped the name of collector from the panel which is to go to Delhi to receive award of Swachh Survekshan-2019. He added names of leaders of opposition in municipal corporations to the panel.
The Mayor said that she is chairman of Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited for which Union road transport minister had sent electricity and other buses.
“He is flagging off the buses without me. How appropriate is that?,” she asked. She also stated that she was going to boycott a function to be chaired by Jaivardhan Singh and organised by leader of opposition in IMC, Foziya Shekh Alim at Azad Nagar square.
The angry Mayor also attacked the state government for not supporting IMC led by her. “Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and I had to inaugurate Harsiddhi Garden but under the pressure from local Congress workers, the government cancelled the programme. They have no respect even for Mahajan,” Gaud said.
She stated that she is planning to take a major step against the government. “I am on the planning stage as of now,” Gaud stated. On learning about her statements, Digvijay Singh who was in the city reached the Mayor’s house reportedly to pacify her.
As per sources, Digvijay reportedly told the Mayor that his son does not have any grudge against her and he is sorry if she felt bad about any of his inadvertent moves.
Digvijay appreciated the IMC’s move of clearing trenching ground which had mountains of garbage a year ago. He also lauded her efforts in getting the city swachh and winning cleanest city tag two times in a row. He wished all the luck for making a hat-trick.
Gaud reportedly also sought financial help from the Mayor for Kshatriya Mahasabha function to be held in New Delhi. Gaud is a member of Kshatriya Mahasabha and so is Digvijay.
I respect Mayor a lot: Jaivardhan
Jaivardhan Singh said the allegation of ignoring or discriminating against her are wrong. I respect her a lot. “She is First Lady of Indore and there is no question of avoiding her,” he told reporters.
To a query, he said the Mayor was invited to the flagging off ceremony of buses and electric cars but she did not attend the function perhaps due to some policy of BJP.
On attack by BJP leader on his father Digvijay Singh, Jaivardhan said that the type of language used was not expected from him.
