Indore: The students of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) who require degree certificates and transcripts urgently, would be provided same within 48 hours after receiving the application. Similarly, migration certificate will be issued to the student within four hours.

The university will charge Rs 1,500 for issuance of academic certificates on urgent basis. “University will propose before executive council to fix special fees for issuance of degree, transcript and migration certificates on urgent basis,” said vice chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad.

He stated that they are going to come up with special fee, which will be seven times more to what we are recovering today for academic award so that only those students who require awards urgently apply for it. Under Madhya Pradesh Public Service Guarantee Act, there is fixed time-period for issuance of academic awards.

While time-limit for issuance of migration is three days, the time for issuance of provisional degrees and duplicate mark sheets is two days. Since university did not issue provisional degrees, many students line up every day in the university seeking original degree certificates.

The vice chancellor had taken an initiative of issuing degrees to such students on the same day but the number kept increasing. “It became difficult for university with fewer hands to run the system. So, it decided to segregate students who genuinely require degree and those who were using the initiative.

And for that, it is going to propose to hike fee for urgent issuance of degree and other certificates,” an officer said. The university will pay remuneration to employees who will work during lunch time and after office hours to prepare academic certificates.

Degrees to be handed over

In current system, the university dispatch degrees to students at their residence. But in new system, the university will hand over the degree to students on production of valid identity card.

BUMS exams cancelled

DAVV on Tuesday cancelled Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery (BUMS) exams citing unforeseen reasons. “Exams of second, third and fourth years of BUMS exams were cancelled on Tuesday. The new schedule of the exams would be issued shortly,” said Prajwal Khare, deputy registrar (exams). Though he did not disclose reason for cancellation of exams, sources said exams were cancelled as Al-Farooq Unani Medical College did not obtain recognition from regulatory body.
