Indore: In the case of over Rs1,100 crore bogus transactions and Rs150 crore Input Tax Credit (ITC) scam, the Central Goods and Service Tax Department (CGST) have received some vital leads after the interrogation of mastermind of the fraud. On the basis of these leads, the CGST may arrest some persons and also initiate action against some firms in near future. The officers of the city-based Preventive Wing of the CGST Department got a major success in nabbing the mastermind of the scam from Ahmadabad on May 8.
On May 9, he was produced before the court, which sent him to 4 days custody of the CGST Department ending on Monday. A high ranking officer of the department informed this correspondent that during the interrogation they have received some vital evidences and information about involvement of some more people. Refusing to disclose about the details of the evidence, the officer said that at this stage of investigation nothing can be disclosed because it may hamper further investigations. However, on the basis of the leads and evidences, the officers are planning to nab some more people and search action may be launched at some locations.
