Indore: C-vigil app gaining popularity in district

Citizen’s Vigil (C-Vigil) app, introduced by Election Commission of India (ECI) to empower citizens, is gaining popularity in the district in the run-up to Lok Sabha Elections. At least 150 complaints have been received, while final picture of candidates has not yet emerged. Talking to media at Collector Office here on Monday, ADM Kailash Wankhede said that a total of 150 calls have been received till date on C-Vigil and most of them were being resolved.

He said that the district call centre was inaugurated to facilitate the voters on January 25. Till date 7,941 calls have been received, out of which 7,304 calls were related to information, 8 were suggestions, 540 were complaints and 89 were other calls. Out of 540 complaints, 528 complaints have been resolved. The process of resolving remaining 12 complaints is in progress, he added.

n view of the Lok Sabha election, a meeting of the enforcement agencies was organised recently. After implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, officials of the Income Tax Department succeeded in seizing of Rs81 lakh in four cases. In 2,941 cases, 11,752 litres of illicit liquor was seized by the Excise Department with estimated value of Rs 45,74,155. The Department of Narcotics has seized 30,507 kg of drugs with estimated value of Rs4.41 lakh.

In addition, more than 10 lakh clearance information will be given to the District Election Office by banks daily and extraordinary and suspicious movement of cash is being closely monitored. After the implementation of Model Code of Conduct, action has also been taken against 11,236 people in 9, 769 cases registered under the prohibitory sections. ADM Ajaydev Sharma, Deputy District Election Officer Pratul Sinha and SDMs Rakesh Sharma, Shashwat Sharma, Shrilekha Shotriy, Ravi Kumar Singh were also present on the occasion.
