Indore: BSc student held with stolen goods worth Rs 7.5 lakh

Indore: Local police on Saturday arrested a college student for committing theft at a doctor’s residence in Banganga area. Goods worth Rs 7.5 lakh were recovered from him.  Additional Superintendent of Police Dr Prashant Choubey said two women named Radha alias Sharda Alawa and Elbai Alawa of Tanda (Dhar) were arrested a week back. An electronic key of Audi car was recovered from them.

The women had told police that their accomplice Ranjeet Singh Alawa had committed theft at Dr Pratik Sharma’s residence in Shriram Enclave in August 2018. Since then, Ranjeet was being searched.  A team was sent to Kakarda in Tanda to arrest the accused. The team raided many places and managed to arrest Ranjeet from there. He allegedly confessed to have committed theft at doctor’s residence after which the police recovered Rs 2.86 lakh, gold, silver ornaments and other valuables worth 7.5 lakh from the accused.

Two LED TVs, two digital cameras, 8 mobile phones, a laptop and a tablet, which were stolen by the accused from another places in the city were also recovered from him. The police are questioning about other places where accused committed theft.  Five of his aides are still at large and the police are searching them. Accused Ranjeet told police that he is pursuing BSc from Vikram University, Ujjain.

No clue about thief
A break-in was reported from a mobile phone shop in Shrinagar Main area in wee hours of Friday. Shop owner Syed Jafar Ali said a person was captured in CCTV while committing theft. Mobile phones and accessories worth Rs 30,000 and cash were stolen. The thief damaged goods. Police were clueless about thief till filing the report.
