Indore : Technology is essential for development and it has got its utilities in every walk of life, said Assembly Speaker Dr Sitasharan Sharma while inaugurating the first IEEE International symposium on ‘Nanoelectronics and Information System,’  organized by Oriental University, Indore in association with the IEEE and IEEE Computer Society (Washington D.C) at Hotel Radisson Blu, on Monday.

Dr Sharma said there’s a wide scope of Nanotechnology in India and he was hopeful that in coming days, India would join top nations as far as R&D in Nanotechnology were concerned.

Lauding Oriental University for organising such an important symposium, he said that research papers which would be presented by the experts during various technical sessions in next two days will make both professionals and those working in the field of electronics aware of the latest advances in Nanotechnology and Information system. On the first day of symposium. Dharma P Agrawal, Professor, University of Cincinnati, Ohio, US while delivering keynote address on `Managing Large Health Care Data’ shed light on the importance and utilities of wireless technology in health sector and said that through  sensor wireless transmitter, one can measure temperature, humidity, sound and light level.

Talking about latest development in Nanotechnology, Agrawal said that a capsule with an inbuilt camera and wireless radiation device have been developed by the scientists in the United States. These capsules after being swallowed by persons can transmit messages on laptop and mobile phones about emerging health ailments, as well as developing tumors inside human bodies. Prior information about these diseases can be collected in data format on mobile phones, computers, laptops which can help curb various chronic diseases.

Similarly, he said a pressure sensor has been developed by the scientists in the United States which after being inserted in one’s shoes can determine the tiredness level of a person. Agrawal said health of elderly persons can also be monitored by using sensor devises.

The three-day symposium being attended by over 70 national and international delegates, wherein over 60 research papers on latest development in Nanotechnology are expected to be presented. Dr Dhruva Ghai, General Chair iNIS and Dean (Technologies, Oriental University, Indore) said the very objective of iNIS 2015 is to provide a platform to both hardware and software researchers to interact under one  umbrella for further development of efficient and secure information processing circuits and systems.
