Indore : The IMC on Thursday measured the premises of Treasure Island Mall on MG Road and another building located at Madhumilan Square in order to detect property tax evasion. The areas of these buildings were found far in excess to what they had declared in their property tax statements.
According to Additional Commissioner Devendra Singh, Treasure Island declared the total area of the building as 319214 square feet and use to pay property tax accordingly on self assessment basis.
However, after physical measurement, the area of the building was around 665272 square feet, almost double the size declared. A building at Madhumilan square too was found four times the declared area of 20830 sq ft.
It was a five story building constructed in a mall style with Dominos, KFC and a bank along with other shops and offices. The owner of the building handed over a cheque of Rs 4.25 lakh on spot to the officials.
