Indore : Annapurna Police raided a house and busted an illegally operated cosmetics manufacturing unit and arrested its owner on Wednesday. The police also seized raw materials and finished goods worth Rs 3 lakh from the premises.
TI Dilip Gangrade said the police had received a tip-off about a cosmetics manufacturing unit was being operated out of a house in Parshwanath Nagar. “It appears that the house remained locked throughout the day and the factory operated at night,” he said.
A police team raided the house on Thursday afternoon and arrested Kishore Madhwani, resident of Pagnispaga, the owner of the factory. The police seized raw materials and finished goods worth Rs 3 lakh from the premises.
During his interrogation, Kishore told the police that he operated the factory at night and supplied the products outside Indore. However, Kishore could not produce any documents related to the factory such as registration papers.
Gangrade said that the products were manufactured in the name of ‘Biotouch’ brand and the boxes carried address of Mumbai. he unit used hazardous chemicals in manufacturing.
Kishore named his maternal uncle as a business partner and some other people as associates. A search in on to trace them. Meanwhile, Kishore was produced in the court and the court has remanded him to three days custody to the police.
