Indore : A day after former MLA Tulsi Silawat along with farmers of Sanver staged a protest at the Collectorate over the issue of polluting Khan River water, Raoji Bazaar police on Wednesday booked him and 50 others for violating Section 144.

“A case has been registered under Section 188 of the IPC against Silawat and 50 others on the complaint of SDM Shringar Shrivastava,” the police said.

The police were provided with a CD of the protest at the Collectorate which they are seeing to identify the protestors.

“We will launch a search for the protestors once they are identified,” the police said.

Silawat had heated exchanges with Shrivastava when the latter came to pacify farmers protesting at the Collectorate during Jan Sunwai.

Silawat had gone to the Collectorate along with farmers to raise the issue of contaminated water of Khan river pouring into Kshipra River and thus polluting it.

When Shrivastava citing Section 144 requested the farmers not to protest at the Collectorate building they had heated exchanges with him.

“ADM Deepak Singh was asked to submit his report into the incident. Following his report, action has been initiated against the persons found violating Section 144,” District Collector P Narahari said.

Silawat cried foul over the police action against him and farmers.

“It is an attempt to gag voice of farmers who had gone to the Collectorate to raise their genuine problem,” he said.

FIR registered against APP activists also

Activists of the Aam Aadmi Party, who had staged a protest at the Collectorate on December 10, had also been booked for violating Section 144.

Raoji Bazaar police said that they had received complaint against the protest earlier but a case was registered only on Wednesday. We received CD of the protest on December 15. After seeing the CD, we have booked AAP party city coordinator Yuvraj Singh and 50 others for violating Section 144.

A case has been registered against the accused under Section 188 of the IPC, the police said.
