Indore : As part of Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has announced to carry out a week-long cleanliness drive from June 22 to 26 on both of its campuses.
Registrar RD Musalgaonkar said that the university will take to a major drive to clean all its offices, classrooms, toilets etc. “We will also weed out of fold files and records so that space for new documents could be made,” the registrar said.
The move comes following a letter from University Grants Commission (UGC) that directed the DAVV and other universities in the country to take steps for cleaning their respective campuses. The letter asks the varsities to upkeep and clean of offices including common are premises, toilets, stairs, lifts, parking lots, pathways etc.
It also asks the varsities to dispose of unusable vehicles, furniture, electronics and electrical equipment and weeding out of fold files and records. The UGC letter states that the central government has directed for a weeklong cleanliness drive from June 22 to 26 in all universities and affiliated colleges with vigor.
Musalgaonkar said that the DAVV would issue letters to affiliated colleges to undertake the cleanliness drive on their campuses to as directed by the UGC. The universities have been asked to report back to the UGC by June 28 on the works being done during the drive.
